What is AIAA-TAMU?

AIAA-TAMU is the Texas A&M University chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) which is a national society of professionals in the aerospace industry. AIAA hosts several technical conferences and seminars every year that members are welcome to attend, publishes numerous aerospace journals and scientific works, and allows for professionals in the aerospace industry to network with each other.

Why should I join AIAA-TAMU?

Joining AIAA-TAMU provides several advantages to Texas A&M students who are interested in pursuing a career in the aerospace industry. These advantages include:

  • Learning about what the aerospace engineering career entails by listening to speakers and representatives of aerospace companies

  • The opportunity to make friends that share your interest in aerospace topics who you will likely end up having classes with in the future, or who can serve as a mentor figure to you

  • The opportunity to network with company representatives when they speak/recruit at AIAA-TAMU meetings

  • The opportunity to participate in events such as Design, Build, Fly competitions, field trips to the facilities of major aerospace companies, and casual social events like flag football or seeing a movie

  • Joining a widely-known national organization that provides you with even more opportunities should you chose to pursue them

What are the requirements to join AIAA-TAMU?

There are a few very simple requirements to be a member of AIAA-TAMU:

  • You must be a student at Texas A&M University (all majors are accepted)

  • You must be a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (the national organization)

  • You must pay local dues (price will be determined before first general meeting) and national dues ($25 per year) to the national AIAA orgainization

How do I join AIAA-TAMU?

  1. Go to, click on “join”, click on “Become a Student Member” in the bottom right corner, and make an account to become a member (This is when you will pay the national dues of $25)

  2. Email with 'New Member' in the subject line, and let us know that you are interested in joining

  3. Fill out the following Google Form

  4. Sign up to get notifications of when meetings are by visiting in your browser or by texting @tamuaiaa to 81010.

  5. Shortly after you have become a member, you will need to pay local dues in person or online ($10 for a semester; $15 for the year)
